Tension In Fast And Furious Cast Over The Rock's Hobbs And Shaw Movie

The squabbling among the Fast & Furious 'family' is shaping up to Christmas Day levels of tension, with Tyrese Gibson taking a swipe at Dwayne Johnson over new spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.

In a now deleted Instagram post (but grabbed here), Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce in the franchise, lashed out at the movie, including a headline which read 'Hobbs & Shaw Has Lowest Fast & Furious Box Office Opening Since Tokyo Drift'
“I have to show my respects for one thing…. He tried…….. Folks called me a hater…. Attacked me for speaking out…..Breaking up the family clearly doesn’t have the value that one would assume it does,” he captioned.

“You know what maybe just maybe… The Rock and the crew will come dance with us again for #Fast10 we can all hug it out and get back to giving the true fans who have supported this franchise for 20 years WHAT they want……..No hating I’m just pointing out the facts.

“#FastFamily has more value as the #FastFamily its [sic] ok.”

Gibson also says that Johnson, who he's sparred with before, isn't 'hurting for work' due to the 'at least 15 franchises' he is also working on.

“There won’t be any tears on his pillow tonight. 180 million dollar global opening on Hobbs and Shaw is NOT a win … When you do get attacked well … That’s that … Again my respects cause he tried his best.”

Gibson first took issue with the spin-off movie from its first announcement in 2017, and slated Johnson in a series of Instagram posts for making the franchise 'about him' and suggesting the movie would be 'another Baywatch', referring to The Rock's flopped Baywatch movie from 2017.

Gibson later pleaded with The Rock to return his calls in another message, asking him not to shoot Hobb & Shaw, then only just announced, after Fast & Furious 9 and not before.

The actor also posted a video of Johnson from 2015, in which the wrestler-turned-actor joked that Gibson's rap album, released that same year, was 'the biggest piece of dog s**t that I have ever heard'.

“Haters come in all forms,” Gibson captioned.

Johnson, meanwhile, hit headlines after filming the eighth Fast & Furious movie, calling his male co-stars 'candy asses'.

Hobbs & Shaw is out now, while Fast & Furious 9 is currently filming.
